#RAAW16 – Day 2 Recap

As we saw yesterday, the recovery community has been instrumental in making this year’s “Recovery Advocacy Action Week” a stigma smashing success. Yesterday, which served as the kick-off of the advocacy week, more than 500 people shared their recovery status via images on social media – using the hashtag #ThisIsWhatRecoveryLooksLike. The halls of many of the major social platforms were awash with the hope and encouragement that a life in recovery can bring for those impacted by substance use disorders and mental health concerns.

Today, Day 2 of the campaign was just as inspiring (if not more so!). Campaign organizers asked participants to go a little deeper into their recovery stories today, using the hashtag #OurStoriesHavePower. Over 100 shared their stories on Instagram and Twitter, while OVER 1,000 were using and actively engaging with the moniker on Facebook. We’d say that makes Day 2 a HUGE success and one the recovery community and campaign organizers should be proud of.
